Do Not Give Your Power Away

When I first started my spiritual practices through Buddhism and meditation, I met teachers who were manipulative. I played a part in this “game” too. The lower aspect of “Good Student” archetype and “The Pleaser” were there to make this game work.

One of them was a nun that I followed for eight years. I was not aware that I was giving my power away and almost took a path that will be so inauthentic to me. When I started to slowly take back my power and decide things on my own, there were disregards, passive threats and scare being directed to me by this teacher. There was a power tug of wall in this student and teacher relationship. I left eventually. I remembered feeling confused, disheartened and at the same time angry. I was more angry with myself than towards her. 

It took me a few years to understand what the relationship was teaching me and to reconcile within myself.
 
“Do not give my power away. Do not idolise.” This was the “gift” from our relationship, and it was a precious gift. I still love my teachers, respect and care for them, but I do not idolise them nor do I give them any power to decide things for me.

I believe many of us here would have seen a healer, psychic, tarot card readers or feng shui masters in our journey. I have honestly seen many and have met really good, and compassionate healers and readers. They have helped me a lot and I am always grateful to them.

However, there are also some “unqualified” ones. Their reading may or may not be accurate or spot one but their attitude and egoistic behaviour is something to be mindful of. At times they can be a bit dramatic, and you wonder if there is anything wrong with you. You may feel judged and humiliated. 

They can be so closed hearted and you do not feel a moment of compassion and empathy from them. They can also insist that you listen to what is given and not what you want to hear. They feel that they “know it all.”

If you ever met some readers that “embodies” such traits and whatever they said are so untrue and does not align with you, STAY CALM and tell them: “I DISAGREE and THEY ARE NOT MINE”.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR POWER AWAY and do not buy into their stories. 

I am writing this also to remind myself as I continue to train myself as a coach, psychic and a healer that I must not take the power away from my clients too. 

It is important to learn how to relay the correct messages to our clients because they have an impact on our clients. Words like intention and motive are a world of difference. 

Why do we want to embark on this journey as a psychic, healer or coach? Is it to feel superior, to show off our skills to others? Or is it that we have the open heartedness and compassion to SERVE others? Do not forget our pure intention when we started. 

Being a psychic, healer or coach does not make us a better person. It is crucial that we continue to work on ourselves, do our inner works, be committed to our practices and keep reflecting and checking on ourselves. This is especially important if we want to continue to serve properly.

Some of the amazing qualities that I see and learnt from great teachers are their humbleness and humanness aside all their gifts. They are very grounded. Also, we are not here to “SAVE” everyone.

I prayed for myself and others who are embarking on this path to continue to work on ourselves, be committed to our practices and be true to our pure intentions. At the same time be human, play, laugh, have fun and enjoy!
