I went to the post office this afternoon to collect my new IC. I was surprised to see a long q, I could sense the restlessness and frustrating energies around. There was some disruption to the system and they could only accept cash. The system to enrol our iris image was also unstable and the staff had to keep rebooting the system.
I sensed my irritation and also my mental chattering: “Sigh, why do I come today, I should have rested at home. I came at the wrong time.“ I began tapping my fingers, noticing my emotions and thoughts. I started to calm down and felt at peace. A gentleman who was there to collect his passport commented:”What’s the point of making an appointment when I have to wait so long?” I was standing beside him and explained that the system shut down a few times and the staff have been rebooting. He felt better after understanding the situation. All the staff looked really stressed but they were very professional at the same time. I smiled at the staff at the counter and she nodded her head with appreciation. I am so glad that I developed the habit to tap regularly and as such the tapping came naturally when I began feeling irritated. It not only calms me but also shifts my perspective. Guess what? I was not unlucky to be in an “unsatisfactory” situation, I was there for a reason - to provide some form of support to the people around me. The next time you are in an unsatisfactory situation and think you are unlucky, maybe you are there to serve a good purpose! Comments are closed.
